Join us for a romantic evening of music and conversation with Jenna Mammina this Valentine’s Day at the stunning Tallman Hotel!
Every winter and spring, the Tallman Hotel conducts a monthly series of private, casual “Concerts with Conversation” on Sunday afternoons in Riffe’s Meeting House, which is close to the hotel.
This Valentine’s Weekend special concert will include JENNA MAMMINA’s unique and beautiful voice, accompanied by JOHN R. BURR on piano.
Jenna Mammina, a Blue Wing favorite, blends folk, pop, and jazz into her own distinct singing style, frequently performing with guitarist Rolf Sturm and pianist John R. Burr. She performs a diverse spectrum of music, including songs by her friend and idol Abbey Lincoln, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, and original compositions. Mammina went on to record five albums, all of which were issued on her own label, Mamma Grace.
John R. Burr’s musical versatility has allowed him to travel and record with a wide range of musicians, making him a perfect pianist for the groundbreaking folk/jazz ensemble, The Alison Brown Quartet. Burr explains: “I play a jazz piano version of the vocal music that I enjoy listening to.” That is what influences me. I enjoy playing and studying jazz, but I also listen to vocal, folk, and singer-songwriter music. I’m always looking for that melodious song-like sound when I improvise.”
