James Conlon’s Final Performance as Music Director
Once upon a time, a prince awakens in a land shrouded in mystery, tasked with an equally enigmatic mission. Equipped with enchanted bells and, as you might expect, a magical flute, Prince Tamino embarks on a journey, resolutely determined to save his beloved, Princess Pamina—only to discover that appearances can be deceiving, and the Queen of the Night, who set him on this path, may very well be scheming his downfall instead.
James Conlon concludes his illustrious tenure as the Music Director of LA Opera with the most renowned opera in one of our signature productions. Mozart’s memorable melodies are complemented by breathtaking projected animations in this perennial favorite among audiences. Miles Mykkanen makes his debut at LA Opera as Prince Tamino, alongside Sydney Mancasola portraying the enchanting Pamina. Kyle Miller is poised to captivate audiences as the charming sidekick Papageno, while Aigul Khismatullina and Kwangchul Youn engage in a dramatic confrontation as the Queen of the Night and Sarastro, respectively.
The performance has a running time of approximately two hours and 40 minutes, which includes one intermission.
Performed in German with English subtitles.
This is a production of the Komische Oper Berlin.
