San Francisco Ballet’s Frankenstein, Segerstrom Hall, Costa Mesa, CA

An electrifying tale of life, love, and identity. Based on the world’s most famous work of horror fiction, Mary Shelley’s 19th-century novel-turned-pop culture classic, Liam Scarlett’s critically praised rendition is one of the most inventive works of dance today.

A gothic masterpiece set in the birth of modern science, Frankenstein takes the audience on a captivating trip through scientist Victor Frankenstein’s grandiose plan to animate a patchwork of lifeless body parts, setting off a disastrous chain of events.

This compelling production takes audiences on a visceral, emotionally charged journey through life, death, love, and identity, set to Lowell Liebermann’s original sweeping soundtrack and steeped in the breathtaking stage design by world-renowned ballet and opera artist John Macfarlane.
