Screening of the 35th anniversary of Paris is Burning, a landmark documentary film that explores the vibrant underground ballroom scene in New York City during the 1980s, primarily focused on the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ community, showcasing their “houses,” fierce competition in dance and fashion categories, and the concept of “chosen family” within this unique culture, all while highlighting the struggles they faced with racism, homophobia, and AIDS.

Panel Discussion: Black community members discuss the past and future of ballroom culture and Black LGBTQ identity.
