Maria Bamford is renowned for her very personal and experimental humor about mental illness. She appeared in the strange, semi-autobiographical Netflix comedy series Lady Dynamite, which follows a comedian who has a nervous breakdown, and she is the star of three unique hour-long stand-up specials: Weakness is the Brand, Old Baby, and Maria Bamford, the special, special, special! Maria was the first female comedian to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials, and she co-starred with Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, and Brian Posehn in the Comedy Central series The Comedians of Comedy and the Netflix film Comedians of Comedy: The Movie. She also created and stars in the cult smash web series The Maria Bamford Show, in which she portrays all of the characters.
Maria is well-known for her extensive voiceover work, which includes characters on Big Mouth, BoJack Horseman, Summer Camp Island, Adventure Time, Talking Tom and Friends, Bob’s Burgers, Legend of Korra, Puss in Boots, CatDog, and the Emmy-winning PBS series Word Girl. She also appears as Tilly Mulch in Team Coco’s dramatized podcast, Frontier Tween. Maria portrayed DeBrie Bardeaux in Netflix’s Arrested Development and appeared on the ABC blockbuster series Fresh off the Boat. She won the Best Club Comic category at the American Comedy Awards in 2014. Maria has been on Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show, and CONAN.
