Laurie Magers wrote and performed a solo play on her experience dating a man in prison.
Do you accept these charges? is a genuine, narrative solo comedy act created and performed by Laurie Magers, a TV writer/comedian. It describes her connection with a convicted multi-felon, whom she met while on parole and continued to date when he was re-incarcerated.
Laurie uses a multimedia combination of storytelling and theater to recount the story of their connection, both before and after jail, from visits to prison letters to drug smuggling and more, while also providing context for how and why she wound up there. It delves into issues such as love addiction, abuse, sexuality, and the complexity of the American jail system, but don’t worry—it’s hilarious.
