How can one pay tribute to the legacy of a band considered sacred? To step onto hallowed ground is fraught with danger and must be approached with the intent and spirit of a disciple—Focus on the nuances of the artistry, delve into the far reaches of innovation, aspire for continuous improvement, and allow the purity of love for the music to guide the journey.
Clementine, the drummer, is a founding member of ZEPPARELLA. From the outset of her musical journey, her aspiration has been to perform on stage every night. This ambition has driven Clementine to tour extensively across the US and Europe, participating in a variety of projects including Bottom, AC/DShe, The House Of More, The Solid, Francis Bakin, Stars Turn Me On, and Beaux Cheveux. She approaches the finest rock drumming ever composed with her own emotionally resonant style, highlighting the Motown influence of the Bonham groove. The deep musical connection forged with Gretchen Menn (guitar), Holly West (bass), and Anna Kristina (vocals) forms the essential bond needed to honor this remarkable music.
Under the guidance of classical guitarist Phillip DeFremery, a protégé of Andrés Segovia, guitarist Gretchen Menn embarked on her journey with the instrument. With unwavering passion and a relentless pursuit of new challenges, her projects frequently showcase unconventional, genre-blending expressions that merge elements of classical, rock, progressive, jazz, and metal. Regarding her influences, Gretchen remains devoted to her original inspirations—Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Frank Zappa, and Jeff Beck. However, her admiration for Jimmy Page’s guitar work predates her own guitar playing. It was through Led Zeppelin’s music that she discovered a profound connection to music, fostering a deep appreciation for guitar-centric genres and, ultimately, the guitar itself.
Bassist Holly West launched her musical career with remarkable momentum, and her recent achievements reflect her exceptional talent. Her relentless determination and ambition have undeniably driven her to this pivotal moment in her role within the powerhouse band Zepparella. As a self-taught bassist, she is also emerging as a vocalist with a powerful rock voice. Her time on stage has been invaluable, allowing her to cultivate an impressive attack, flawless feel, and a technique that appears to have developed effortlessly, complemented by her captivating stage presence and exuberant performance style. Her influences encompass a wide range of rock, from Clutch and the Rival Sons to Slash, ZZ Top, and, of course, the legendary Zeppelin.
