S.R. Laws is a California songwriter and performer who plays rock, roll, rhythm, and soul music.

S.R. LAWS IS OUT THERE:
He approaches songwriting with a fervor for the songs that shaped our upbringing. His sound resonates with a sense of familiarity while simultaneously presenting ideas that are entirely original.

He finds inspiration in remarkable storytellers such as John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell, Neil Finn, Patty Griffin, Steve Earle, and Ron Sexsmith, among others. Their music has significantly influenced his artistic path.

Having grown up in Northern California, he forged a distinct bond with music from an early age. His father worked as a trash collector, and he would spend countless hours rummaging through bags of discarded 45 records. Each discovery felt like uncovering hidden gems. Some records were filthy and worn, while others were immaculate. The excitement of finding new sounds was thrilling, and he could hardly wait to place the needle down and lose himself in the music.

He set out on a journey to Texas with merely two suitcases and $500 in his bank account. His aim was to immerse himself in the lively music scene and learn from other songwriters. Austin, recognized as the “Live Music Capital of the World,” provided him with numerous opportunities to develop as an artist. Open mics and songwriters’ nights became his training grounds, where he absorbed every experience, listening to others convey their stories through music.

Currently, he resides in Sonoma County, California, diligently working as a touring artist and singer-songwriter for his original rock band, The Heartsleeves. He invites everyone to accompany him on this musical adventure, sharing his songs one person at a time in this vast and unpredictable world we inhabit.
