The event will be headlined by a long-standing Japanese duet, who will make a rare Bay Area appearance, providing a unique opportunity to see their profound musical connection and skill live. Joining them is a new duet made up of two seasoned Bay Area veterans who are performing together for the first time.Their creative cooperation, along with the seasoned skill of all performers, guarantees an evening full of unexpected and explosive musical moments.
SATOKO FUJII, a pianist and composer described as “an improviser of rumbling intensity and generous restraint” by Giovanni Russonello of the New York Times, is one of jazz’s most creative voices today.Japanese jazz trumpeter and composer.
KAPPA MAKI is renowned for his distinct musical vocabulary, which combines jazz lyricism with expanded approaches.
MOTOKO HONDA is a critically regarded Japanese concert pianist, composer, and sound artist who has developed a distinct sound through her holistic approach to music and great sensitivity in interacting with different art forms and technologies.
BEN DAVIS focuses on combining his classical, jazz, and modern music backgrounds into a raw form of acoustic expression. He studied cello and composition at the Guildhall in London and began improvising while performing for the UK-based dance company Earthfall Dance.
