Martin Garrix, Lost Frequencies, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, CA

Martin Garrix – a name associated with one of the youngest and most accomplished DJs/producers in the pop and electronic music scene. Garrix has showcased his talents worldwide, headlining festivals, breaking into new markets, and collaborating with prominent artists such as Dua Lipa, Bono and The Edge (U2), Khalid, and Macklemore.

Ascending yet another step on his path to fame, the hitmaker has established his own label (STMPD RCRDS), owns a studio complex in Amsterdam, and serves as a mentor to emerging artists.

Reflecting on his modest beginnings, the DJ/producer, who was born and raised in The Netherlands, recalls his first encounter with dance music as witnessing Tiësto’s performance at the 2004 Olympics opening ceremony in Athens. Discussing the impact of that moment, he states, “DJ’s weren’t as prominent as they are today, so it was significant that a Dutch DJ participated in the Olympics. I remember the music; it was filled with so much energy. The sensation I experienced was truly remarkable.” Throughout his early years, he pursued that feeling, which enabled him to develop a natural ear for frequencies and a passion for electronic sounds.

Following his own unique path – a characteristic that, unbeknownst to him, would lead him to great success – he began to demonstrate his abilities, which were honed both at home and while studying music production at a specialized institution.

Now in his mid-twenties, nearly a decade into a career that commenced with the Dutchman making waves in the EDM scene by releasing the single ‘Animals’ in 2013. This exhilarating dance-floor anthem climbed to the top of global charts, ultimately transforming the landscape of what is deemed popular music. This event marked one of the most pivotal moments in his career and the industry, solidifying Garrix as the new face of electronic music at the tender age of 17.
