Jesse Daniel, Jake Kohn, The Wayfarer, Costa Mesa, CA
Jesse Daniel possesses a narrative to share, and there is no genre quite like honky-tonk music for conveying stories about existence, affection, and challenging moments.
Jesse Daniel will be performing with Jake Kohn on Saturday, August 30 at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa, CA!
Jesse Daniel earns his living traveling, yet he has never truly departed from his roots. At least not in spirit.
“I was raised in the San Lorenzo Valley on California’s Central Coast,” he shares, “and I carry that with me wherever I travel. The mountains, creeks, and redwoods, along with all the individuals who lived, worked, and passed away there, are what shaped me into the artist I am today.”
Son of the San Lorenzo, Daniel’s remarkable new album transcends being merely a homage to his origins; it narrates a tale of victory and resilience, of love and sacrifice, of development and transformation. Captured live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, this collection provides an honest account of Daniel’s extraordinary journey, from his formative years hitchhiking beneath the Santa Cruz Mountains to his turbulent adolescence and struggles with addiction, culminating in the people (and music) that ultimately rescued him. The songs here are raw and cathartic, often imbued with yearning and driven by profound, unwavering introspection, while the performances exude warmth and timelessness, merging the classic sound for which Daniel has become renowned with the California country rock of his upbringing. When combined, these elements create a rich, cinematic work of contemplation and renewal from an artist dedicated to personal and sonic growth, an album that honors the past while maintaining a steadfast focus on the future.
“I felt as though I was finally prepared to cease fleeing and confront matters directly with this record,” Daniel states. “I sensed that I had matured sufficiently to delve deeper than ever before, to seek understanding of how I arrived here and where I am going.”
