Evan Honer was still pursuing his college education in Southern California when his music — a blend of acoustic folk, indie-Americana, and alternative pop, presented by a young songwriter unafraid to blur genre lines — began to attract a global audience.
The transformation occurred rapidly. One moment, he was sharing performance videos on social media with minimal engagement. The next, he had achieved viral fame, amassing 100 million streams with his rendition of Tyler Childers’ lesser-known track “Jersey Giant” and garnering a following for his original compositions as well. On the day of his graduation, Honer unveiled West On I-10, a debut album that swiftly propelled him to viral acclaim and resulted in months of sold-out headline performances throughout America and Europe.
For his second album, Fighting For, Honer opted for a straightforward approach. He declined seven-figure offers from nearly every major label and Grammy-winning producers, choosing instead to record Fighting For with close friends in intimate settings such as small studios, churches, Airbnbs, and living rooms. This album is being released under Evan’s own independent label, Cloverdale Records. With 500 million streams and counting, and forging a new path in the music industry as a fully independent artist, this marks merely the beginning of Evan’s journey.
