Chavela Vargas, a musical icon, was noted for her “rough voice of tenderness,” which reflected her lengthy life of indulging in Mexico’s nightlife and cantinas. A cast of today’s most current and influential Latina musicians pay tribute to her iconic voice, which spanned the majority of the twentieth century and is remembered in hundreds of songs.
