Alastair Greene is a blues-rock guitarist and singer with multiple Top 10 Billboard chart entries. His band has been rocking for over 25 years, with parallels to Gov’t Mule, ZZ Top, and Cream. For eight years, Alastair traveled the world on guitar and vocals with the Alan Parsons Project, and he also performed with Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas. He has performed at the Big Blues Bender, toured the United States with Tab Benoit’s band, and traveled the world with Grammy nominee Sugaray Rayford’s band. He has also made numerous guest performances with Eric Burdon, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, Savoy Brown, Debbie Davies, Buddy Guy, Curtis Salgado, and Slash.

His most recent album, Standing Out Loud, captures the essence of his favorite music from the 1960s and 1970s with wonderful songs rooted in blues and southern rock traditions. Greene’s sound, which features funky, swampy grooves and flights of muscular guitar, is reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Double Trouble, and, most notably, Gov’t Mule’s fusion of The Allman Brothers Band’s improvisational firepower and Cream’s raw, stripped-down electric Blues-rock.

See them perform live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning tasting facility and venue on Vasco Road in the center of Livermore’s wine, spirits, and brewery sector. Almost Famous Wine produces fifteen wines in a variety of genres and has won over 50 top industry honors since its inception in 2021.

Alastair Greene, a native of Santa Barbara, California, and current resident of Austin, Texas, has ridden his Blues-soaked rock into the twenty-first century, navigating a continuously changing global (and musical) terrain. He’s prepared for the challenge, having cultivated a wide range of musical interests as a child, inspired by his mother’s piano playing and a record collection that includes The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John. His father exposed the child to the sophistication of Bach and Beethoven.

He studied piano and saxophone before discovering the guitar in high school. Van Halen and Iron Maiden, 1980s heavy music titans, delivered inspiring thunder. Then, a vintage and seminal sound, the Blues, shifted Greene’s direction. Records by B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, The Allman Brothers Band, and Stevie Ray Vaughan introduced the aspiring guitarist to a wealth of musical riches.

He obtained a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston for two years before returning to Southern California in the early 1990s. Greene started the Alastair Greene Band in 1997 and has since released eight solo albums (including two live sets and a compilation CD) over the course of nearly two decades.
