The Curse of Griffith Park Hike

Saturday 10/25 is SOLD OUT! Are other dates filling up quickly?

Prepare yourself for a hike through the haunted paths of this historic park, featuring chilling stories of curses, murder, chaos, disease, disasters, paranormal experiences, and mysterious events that have haunted Griffith Park for centuries.

Guided by naturalist and outdoor educator Jason Wise (@jasonjourneyman on Instagram & Tiktok), this hike from sunset into night will take us along a trail steeped in history, while we also delve into the eerie aspects of the park. We hope to catch glimpses of bats, owls, and spiders that are fitting for the Halloween season.

We will certainly encounter our renowned (or notorious) cast of characters (who may or may not still linger in the park) including Don Antonio Feliz (the namesake of Los Feliz), his niece Petranilla Feliz (the dramatic figure), and of course, the park’s namesake, Col. Griffith J Griffith.

This is the campfire ghost story of Los Angeles and the foundation of Griffith Park, with ghost tales that you will definitely want to share with your friends this Halloween season.

Details regarding the meet-up location will be provided shortly before the event.

The trail is primarily a wide dirt fire road, totaling a 2-mile walk with a 250ft elevation change. It is accessible for most individuals, although some steep sections may pose challenges for those with mobility issues. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask so I can ensure the hike is accommodating. Children and dogs are welcome!
