We are living in an era of unprecedented complexity and turbulence. What characterizes this epoch in human history is the convergence of forces—political, geostrategic, economic, social, technical, and environmental—and their interplay. These crises know no borders and are unresponsive to remedies conceived and executed by individual nations or the existing ecosystem of multilateral institutions.
Throughout history, we can identify examples of pivotal periods when human perseverance, ingenuity, and cooperation fueled previously unthinkable progress. We are in an elasticity phase, which means we have more room to expand our ideas about global connections and the international system. Humanity must seek to create an international framework that can lead us to a more peaceful, more humane, and more equitable global society, as well as a thriving planetary ecosystem
