Michelle Buteau, Netflix Is A Joke Fest, Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, CA

Michelle Buteau is a multifaceted talent, serving as an actress, comedian, producer, and writer. She stars in the Netflix comedy series “Survival Of The Thickest,” which she not only created but also executive produced.

This series, inspired by her autobiographical essay collection of the same title, premiered in July 2023, with its second season debuting in March 2025, and it is set to return for a third and final season. For her work on the series, Buteau was honored with the 55th NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television).”

In June 2024, Buteau recorded her second Netflix comedy special, A BUTEAU-FUL MIND, live at Radio City Music Hall, making history as the first woman to film a special at this renowned venue. The special was made available on Netflix on December 31, 2024. Her inaugural Netflix special, WELCOME TO BUTEAUPIA, received the Critics Choice Television Award for Best Comedy Special.

Buteau also features in the popular comedy film BABES, alongside Ilana Glazer and directed by Pamela Adlon. The film debuted to enthusiastic reviews at SXSW and was released in theaters on May 17, 2024, with Variety commending its “unapologetically raw take on pregnancy and female friendship” and Rolling Stone referring to it as the “‘Bridesmaids’ of babymaking.” She has recently completed filming for the comedy SPA WEEKEND, in collaboration with Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, and Anna Faris.

Buteau is widely recognized as the host of the successful Netflix reality competition series, “The Circle,” which launched its seventh season in September 2024, along with the second season of Netflix’s “Barbecue Showdown.” Additionally, she has hosted the 2024 Billboard Music Awards and the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party livestream. Buteau’s notable film and television credits also include MARRY ME, FIRST WIVES CLUB, ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE, and SOMEONE GREAT.
