ABOUT DR. REELAVIOLETTE’S POETRY SET
Dr. ReeLaviolette’s performance for Saints & Sinners is inspired by Ryan Coogler’s 2025 film, Sinners, which delves into essential inquiries regarding Black life and Black death, spirituality, somatic embodiment, and ancestral memory. The poems presented will be drawn from her extensive oeuvre, including significant pieces from her 2021 publication, mourning my inner[blackgirl] child, which celebrates its fifth anniversary on the day of this event! She will be joined by the remarkable Bianca Brown, who will also deliver a compelling set of vocal melodies following her accompaniment.

Black Joy Parade Weekend is a sacred occasion in The Town. It is a moment to gather, remember, reflect, and ground ourselves.
