11th Annual Better Brothers Truth Awards, Los Angeles, CA
Celebrate greatness by honoring the Black LGBTQ+ community and raising scholarship monies for LGBTQ+ youth.
For the past ten years, members of the Black LGBTQ+ community have congregated in Los Angeles to acknowledge and honor their own, award scholarships to LGBTQ+ youngsters, and express gratitude to those who have been labeled allies. The Truth Awards have emerged as a watershed moment in our community’s history. Every year, over 600 people from all over the United States travel to Los Angeles to be motivated, encouraged, and reminded of our community’s influence on popular culture, politics, and the arts. We feel that this event enhances our collective presence and perspective in society.
We have honored over 50 individuals through our partnership with Emmy Award-winning actress and star of ABC’s Abbott Elementary, Sheryl Lee Ralph and her DIVA Foundation, including Raven-Symone’, Actress, Producer, and Advocate; Colman Domingo, Emmy Award Winning Actor; TS Madison, Actress, Advocate, and Influencer; Marsha Warfield, Comedian, Actress; Derrick Rutledge, celebrity Makeup Artist; Anthony Hemingway, Emmy Award-winning Producer, Director, Writer; Rahsaan Patte The Ally Award has been given to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, actor Rockmond Dunbar, and Emmy Award-winning actress Loretta Devine.
