Join local artist Zip Lehnus at the FLAX Art & Design Store for in-person, outdoor workshops titled “Zen + The Art of Urban Sketching,” held at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.
Lehnus is a science writer, naturalist, urban artist, and passionate sketcher whose work reflects his interests in science and nature. He maintains a gallery on Instagram.
The workshop commences at FLAX in Building D, where participants will receive their urban sketching kit (included in the $75 class fee), review fundamental urban sketching techniques, and embark on a journey to explore stunning outdoor locations ideal for urban sketching. This $75 workshop is scheduled for Saturdays, September 20, 2025, and October 18, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and encompasses all necessary materials to ignite a passion for urban sketching (valued at over $57).
Included materials are: the Sakura Koi Watercolor Pocket Set (valued at $27.95), the Strathmore Vision Mixed Media Pad ($10.75 value), three Sakura Pigma Micron Pens (0.45 mm tip) in black, orange, and purple (valued at $8.97), a Uni-Ball Gel Impact Pen in Coconut White (valued at $3.95), a Palomino Blackwing Pencil (matte, soft, valued at $2.50), a General Pencil Extra-Soft White Vinyl Eraser ($1.25 value), and a Magnesium Wedge Sharpener ($1.75 value).
